LOCAL BY DESIGN
Your workspace.
Your choice to save.
This page describes the actual behavior of this static prototype. It is not a legal policy for an established company or a promise of production security.
Session-only by default
When you first open Clearstep, tasks exist in this page’s memory only. Reloading or closing the page clears them. There is no account, database, or background recovery. Memo text and unsubmitted drafts are also held only in the page and are never saved automatically.
Optional browser storage
Choosing “Save tasks in this browser on this device” stores the current task workspace in localStorage under clearstep.workspace.v1. When that saved workspace is available and valid, Clearstep restores it on a later visit. This setting applies to this browser and site origin only, not other browsers or devices.
Unchecking the setting removes the saved browser copy while keeping your current tasks in memory. If browser storage is blocked, full, or malformed, the interface shows a warning. Malformed saved data is not loaded or automatically erased. Enabling saving afterward will replace it. Private browsing, browser cleanup, or local file restrictions may make persistence unavailable or unreliable.
Local storage is not encrypted. Other people using the same browser profile or software with access to that profile may be able to read it. Avoid patient records, credentials, financial details, or other sensitive information.
Backups contain the original text
JSON exports include task titles, owner names, due dates, priorities, statuses, fictional-sample labels, and full source notes. An export is a local file download, not a cloud backup. Keep it private and share it only deliberately. Downloads remain on your device even after browser data is cleared.
Imports are limited to 1 MB and 300 tasks. Clearstep checks the version, field types and lengths, permitted statuses and priorities, real calendar dates, and unique IDs. Import previews the task count and requires a separate replacement action. A successful import replaces the current workspace; inline Undo can restore the previous workspace until the next task change.
No hidden services
The app includes no analytics, advertising, remote fonts, images, CDN scripts, or third-party API calls. Task content is not sent to a server by this prototype. If these static files are served by a web server, that server may receive ordinary page requests and keep its own access logs; no hosting service is configured by this prototype.
The memo tool uses line splitting and simple list-prefix cleanup, not AI. Claude is not connected. Original source lines are retained exactly in source notes and are read-only after saving. No live collaboration, login, or cloud sync exists.
Remove your information
Turn off browser saving to remove the saved workspace, then close or reload the page to clear the in-memory workspace. You can also clear this site’s storage in your browser settings. Delete downloaded JSON files separately. Individual task deletion has an inline Undo action until the next task change.
